Karen Higgens

The official Old Farts team mascot. A Bemsee marshal and someone you need to be nice to 'cos it might be her who has to pick you up after dozing off around Druids! She has her own very informative web site. Karen is also keeping the scores for the Old Farts v. Spotties championship. Check her site for the full details at: www.karenscorner.co.uk. John "Nifty 50" Kirby

Another Marshall. John Marshalls at a lot of motorsport events. He has exceptional Old Fart qualifications.

John belongs to the British Motorsport Marshals Club and is graded as an Incident/Flag Marshal, as well as being graded as an Experienced Specialist (Pits). His marshalling for this club is with car racing and he prefers to marshal at Club Racing meetings rather than the High profile meetings.

The photograph below left, is of Johnny Herbert and John, taken at the 1999 German F1 Grand Prix at Hockenheim, where he was a Pit Marshal, for Stewart Ford Grand Prix. He says "This undoubtably counts as the highlight of my marshalling career". (Better than rescuing Old Farts at Bemsee meets eh?) The other one is of John in more conventional mode in the bar after an argument with a flymo.

During the last few years John has become involved in Marshalling at Motorcycle Road Races. Initially marshalling for the New Era Motorcycle Club and the Classic Motorcycle Racing Club, However for the last two seasons the bulk of my Motor Cycle Road Race Marshalling has been with the British Motorcycle Racing Club (Bemsee) and the Motorcycle Racing Organisation (MRO).

His favourite circuits are Mallory Park, Donington Park, Cadwell Park, Lydden and Brands Hatch.

Freddie and Steve (another one)

These two reprobates are essential parts of OldGit's racing effort. His son Freddie (Little Rik) - who may even inherit a ride eventually - and Steve his mechanic, that's him behind OldGit.
